The flight out of Vancouver took off no problem at 7:00 am… but the fun began when we went to land in Edmonton… FOG totally prevented a landing and we had to divert to Calgary~~~~~~~~~~~~ so, instead of landing at 9:30 in Edmonton I got to Steph and Eric’s at 4:00 pm.
Too tired to even think of driving to Prince Albert and was glad to have a good nights sleep before heading off in the a.m.
Veronica & Piccadilly did their usual hopping, jumping and licking greeting… Goof Girls.
We were at Maluaka (Makena area) beach yesterday – lots of big surf and wind – but loved it.
M Mom was happy with the red cardinals we were all happy with the beach [beach bumming is OK if you have a good book and/or like to walk]…

We thought we’d check out the beach close to us today… basically across the street.
The best laid plans went along and we settled in for a nice morning – until the rains came.
I had gone for a good beach walk and got caught on my way back – but being caught in the rain on Maui means ‘take off your hat and enjoy the shower’.
Ended up being a laundry day – and that’s necessary too.
Snorkelling at Mile 14 again today – gorgeous. I did get a touch of redness on my feet (I think simply from walking the beach).
We will stay around ‘home base’ tomorrow – the surf looks managable.
We’re enjoying the pool too.

We’re getting pretty relaxed on this beautiful Hawaiian Island. It’s very easy to like.
Yesterday we had our first day of snorkelling and were not disappointed. Mile 14 has some great coral reefs very near the shore. The shark warning sign was a little unnerving though.
It got VERY busy by noon (Sunday Family Day perhaps)…. we’re going back today to see if it is as busy.
The weather is perfect… even when it rains it’s obliging enough to do it at night.

Ahhhhhhhhh… made it there today.
The surf is too high for swimming – but great walking and paddling. I guess the ‘kona’ winds are stirring the sand up but it is beautiful to listen to and people watching is always fun.
I think we’re all a little ‘punchy’ from lack of sleep and the travel… but, it is so great here.
The warm trade-winds and moist air are definitely part of the huge appeal. I like the thought of us out on these little islands in the ocean too.
We’re just getting organized today.

When I stayed overnight at Mom’s I parked in the usual spot… found this when I went out in the morning!
I could still see to drive though.

Who would know that you can tell a bracelet is brass (not gold) by rubbing your finger/hand across it quickly and smelling… a very metallic aroma for brass – but gold doesn’t smell… HUH!
And, gold doesn’t tarnish either – no wonder it’s so popular (not to mention pretty and shiny… says the crow part of me;)
